Supporting Children Through Mindfulness: My Journey and Training

Supporting Children Through Mindfulness: My Journey and Training

Supporting children with their emotional wellbeing has always been at the heart of my work,  an important part of my journey back in August 2019 was  completing my Mindfulness for Children certification.

This training marked a significant step in shaping how I work with children today. Even then, I could see just how much children were needing simple, gentle tools to help them understand their feelings, manage big emotions, and feel calmer within themselves.
I chose to undertake this training because I wanted to offer children something practical and empowering,  not just ways to cope, but ways to truly connect with how they feel.
Mindfulness is such a powerful yet accessible approach. Through this training, I learned how to introduce mindfulness to children in ways that are engaging, age-appropriate and easy to understand. From simple breathing techniques to grounding exercises and awareness activities, these tools help children slow things down, feel safe, and begin to make sense of their emotions.

What I love most about mindfulness is that it gives children something they can carry with them wherever they go. It builds self-awareness, supports emotional regulation, and helps children feel more in control, whether they are at home, in school, or navigating everyday challenges.

This certification laid the foundation for so much of the work I now do through Sinead York Wellbeing. It has influenced how I support children 1-1, how I work with families, and how I collaborate with schools.

I feel incredibly grateful to do this work and to be able to support children in becoming calmer, more confident, and more connected to themselves.

If you’d like to learn more about how mindfulness can support your child, I’d love to hear from you.

Together, we can give children the tools they need to thrive.
